hi. my comment seems to have slipped somewhere, so here it is again. As the chick seems very young I was wondering if you popped it up on the branch for the photo or whether that was where you found it. It would be interesting to know as usually chicks of that age are on the ground.
In response to your comment:- Tawney Owl young leave the nest well before they are able to fly and clamber about in the branches. Sometimes they may fall to the ground. Youngsters are quite capable of climbing back up tree trunks by using their incredibly strong claws. This little fellow was about 1.5 mts off the ground in a fallen tree.
